The estate is located in the surroundings of Punta del Este, the country’s most exclusive tourist and beach center.

At the foothill of Sierra de la Ballena, the vines are well drained due to both the slopes and the loose, gravelly soil.  Very close to the sea and lake Laguna del Sauce it enjoys a moderate climate, with cool nights during grapes ripening period.

This magnificent terroir along with a very careful management of the vines  provide outstanding grapes for Alto de la Ballena’s unique wines, crafted following modern winemaking techniques to ensure quality and good aging conditions.

Ariano HermanosBouza is a family run boutique winery, which was born stimulated by the love of this family for the countryside and its products. We are convinced that working on small scales produces better outcomes. It allows us to be closer to every detail in every stage of the winemaking process, from the vineyard to glass of wine. We have a total of 19 hectares of vineyards, 12 planted in the region of Las Violetas, Canelones, and 7 of them planted in Montevideo, in the property where we have the winery. We have a limited production, around 90.000 bottles a year of the finest wine, using only our own grapes. We produce 5 varieties of vines, with which we make out 9 different and personal style wines: Albariño (unique in South America), Chardonnay, Merlot, Tannat-Merlot blend, Tempranillo-Tannat blend, Tannat, and at the top of our line, the result of the most outstanding plots every year, Merlot Unique Parcel and Tannat Unique Parcel, together with our premium blend, Monte Vide Eu, which is the blend of the 3 red varieties we produce, Tannat, Merlot and Tempranillo. Having been awarded with the main prizes in the most prestigious international and local contests such as the Concours Mundial de Bruxelles, Vino Ljubljana, Premios Zarcillo, Concours Chardonnay du Monde, Vinitaly, Vinalies, Bacchus, Catad’Or, our wines are becoming known by more wine lovers everywhere. Our wines are already in different markets around the world. We are currently exporting to Brazil, Mexico, USA, England, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic and Dubai.

Pisano’s Family winery is one of the most prestigious wineries of our country, where, only 350.000 bottles are produced every year and have been awarded either in National and International contests sponsored by the OIV (International Organization of Wines and Grapes). Pisano’s first wine was produced in 1924 and since then we are producing flavourful, long lasting fine wines, oriented to the high quality niche of the market, which reflect the typical and distinctive Uruguayan character. Varela ZarranzViña Varela Zarranz is part of the wine-growing heritage of Uruguay, dates from the end of the nineteenth century when  wine-growing was introduced in Uruguay. Varela Zarranz’s philosophy is centered in the production of high quality wines, optimizing the fruit aromas and the varietal character of the grapes, responding to a more informed and demanding public. Our Tannat are characterized by the smoothness and sweetness of their tannins. Reflection of the effort made is the more of 80 prizes obtained in the last years in national and international contests, standing out the only Great Gold Medal for an Uruguayan wine in 2005 for the Tannat 2004.
